Project title: Governance of natural resources – EU experience and challenges for Russia (NatRes)

During the academic years 2014/15 - 2016/17 a new training module on the governance of natural resources will be developed and implemented at the faculty of Natural sciences and Geography (Pskov State University). Young resident faculty in collaboration with EU representatives will participate in the syllabi development and implementation.

The module will include three overlapping courses:

1. Communications for effective environmental governance – EU experience and options for Russia.
2. Biodiversity governance – EU experience and options for Russia.
3. Water governance – EU experience and options for Russia.

Piloting of the module will be carried out in 2014-2015 academic year, implementation of the updated courses will take place in 2015-2016 and 2016-2017 academic years for 4-th year students from "Biology" (profile "Bioecology").

Syllabi and module’s materials will be annually updated.

The e-learning platform will be created. It will be Moodle based, and it will include a password-free section, with all the open-access project materials published and project-relevant information posted, a section accessible with guest credentials, and a section with restrained access limited only to the students and faculty of Pskov State University.

In addition to the educational activities the project includes research on natural resource governance in transboundary regions. The research results will be reported at the annual seminar, and will be published in university periodicals (“Pskov regionological Journal”, “Bulletin of PskovSU”) and international journals.
